LAKE GEORGE — The Lake George village board voted unanimously on Monday to pass legislation that will prohibit cannabis retailers from setting up shop within its municipal boundaries.
Each municipality in the state has until then to ban dispensaries and other retail outlets, though local officials cannot restrict the right of residents or visitors to possess and use marijuana.
Robert Blais, the longtime mayor of the village, said a couple of people had initially expressed interest in opening local dispensaries.
