The tag, which belonged to Jim Henry Flanagan of Carbon Hill, Alabama, was found in the United Kingdom by Philip Forman, WIAT reported.

After finding the dog tag, Forman went home and tried to contact Flanagan’s family, WIAT reported.
Flanagan who before World War II was a resident of Carbon Hill,” Forman wrote in the post.
“I find his grandchildren, and there are several of them.
Flanagan’s wife died in August 1996, and one of his daughters, Sandra Flanagan Meddows, who was born in 1941, died in February 1996, according to online newspaper records.
