A takeaway chef’s cannabis growing enterprise could have earned him more than £80,000 in three years, a court has heard.
There was a strong smell of cannabis and officers found a bag containing more than £2,800 in cash and a self-sealed bag.
It was estimated that Li could have made £84,000 over the course of the time the indictment spanned and there were also significant cash deposits in his bank that didn’t match up to his income.
Representing Li, Chris Spencer mentioned how long the case had taken to get to court and also went through Li’s employment history saying he was a hard-working man.
She said sending Li to prison would be “counterproductive” given his progress and come at great expense to the tax payer.
