Student entrepreneurs showcase their creations in Owen Sound

The handmade products of more than a dozen students, from elementary to post-secondary, were being featured at the second annual Student Makers Market at Grey County’s Sydenham Campus on Saturday.

Kate Dippel, a 16-year-old student at Walkerton’s Sacred Heart High School was attending the market for the first time, where she was selling her custom-made cards, as well as wood and macramé ornaments.

“I love making arts and crafts and I was kind of just reaching an end in my creativity,” Dippel said.

She said opening her business was difficult during the COVID-19 pandemic, but she had the help of her friends to share her work and get it out.

She participated in the Summer Company program with Grey County’s Business Enterprise Centre, which led to her starting her business.
