Twin County Humane Society Representative Susan Hevey at left, is presented a check from Roadrider Market Managers Raj Chaudhari and Judie Marshall.
”Sweet Miss Becky” Horton has been dubbed a “lifelong” member of the Roadrider staff, having worked at the market during ownership by three different managers.
Not surprisingly, this comes natural to the hard-working team with “Miss Sweet Becky’s” homemade cooking and making customers feel at home.
According to Managers Raj Chaudhari and Judie Marshall, tipping organizations who serve the community was a natural extension of the store’s philosophy of service to the community is more than keeping the shelves stocked.
Marshall said Horton is the company’s “lifetime employee” and has been with the firm through three owners.
“We came up with the Christmas Fund and the Shriners because…you know…kids need help.
“We got together and started catching cats and working with the humane society and decided, hey, that stuff is not free.
Chaudhari and Marshall confirmed the store isn’t just a place where people rush in and out.
When she’s not here she’s either mowing a lawn or mowing some hay or something,” Marshall laughed.
Marshall said David Padgett gave them the statue and ever since they like to dress it up.
The counter, which serves breakfast and lunch, features a variety of specials and homemade specials including rice and banana puddings, a “full throttle” club sandwich, homemade grilled chicken salad, BBQ or hot dog plates, cold cut sandwiches, cheeseburgers, hamburger steak and stew beef plates.
