We’re now in fill-out-the-roster mode with flyers and veteran minimums. After The Boston Herald’s Mark Murphy reported that the Celtics intend to “retain a ‘salary structure’ that makes it possible to sign a ‘major’ player when he comes available most likely next summer,” we could see Boston make their first free agent signing of the summer.
According to multiple sources (NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Harrison Sanford and The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey, the Celtics are interested in Danny Green.
After winning a championship with the Lakers in the Orlando bubble, Green was dealt to Oklahoma City for Dennis Schröder and then shuttled to Philadelphia for Al Horford in a multi-player deal.
If Murphy’s reporting is accurate however, it’s unlikely that the Celtics will offer him the taxpayer’s mid-level exception, so the the Celtics’ interest could be moot.
