It’s a significant night for the Pistons, who could land a talent to take them to the next level in their restoration.
For Detroit, landing in the top three is, of course, a huge deal.
The remaining teams are assigned draft positions based on the inverse order of their regular-season record.
Should the Pistons fall out of the top three or four, fans can take some comfort in the success Detroit had in the 2020 NBA Draft.
Heading into the Draft, the Pistons’ biggest need is another consistent shooter on the wing.
Experts have pointed to his size and high basketball IQ, which will allow him to guard multiple positions.
Evan Mobley – He’s been heralded for his versatility on offense including a soft touch around the basket, his ability to step out to the perimeter and his ability to take defenders off the dribble.
He is known for being aggressive and can finish through contact, as well as lock down his opponents on defense.
Jalen Green – Considered to be one of the better pure scorers in this draft, he could provide any team an instant offensive boost.
Jonathan Kuminga – He has size, length and a solid frame, and is noted for his ability to move vertically and laterally.
His jump shot is still coming along and he is said to be a pass-first player, which can lead to missed opportunities to create his own shot.
He has trouble finishing over length, has a low free-throw shooting percentage and doesn’t get to the line as much as other guards.
