“It is important to understand if you have not met the person in real life, you do not know who they really are.
– Facebook job scams: when an individual responds to a Facebook telework job posting and is tricked into believing they’ve been hired for a legitimate job.
– Canadian Revenue Agency scams: when an individual receives a call or text that appears to be from CRA that includes a demand for your Social Insurance Number or payment, or they will call the police.
– Do not make payments to any person requesting a wire transfer, online currency such as Bitcoin, pre-paid credit cards or gift cards such as Google Play or iTunes.
