New Zealand’s ‘green fairy’ has wings clipped for giving elderly free cannabis

Tong suggested to RNZ he didn’t go looking to become a “green fairy.” It was something that evolved after his son was diagnosed with cancer and he started to research alternative medicines.

It is simply a matter of doing his part to help seniors who are experiencing pain from various conditions, but are either unable to find effective medication or do not have the money to pay for what works, Tong noted.

But last month, Tong was the subject of a police raid, with 30 plants outside, as well as cannabis and CBD oil and balms inside, being seized.

Tong argues the raid was misguided since his cannabis cultivation and the products provided to the elderly have nothing to do with money.

“NZ had the opportunity to change this last year in the referendum,” noted one.
