LETTER: Troubling trend in electorate turning to ‘did not vote party’ – The County Weekly News

Whether we were or are still supportive or not of the manner in which Justin Trudeau handled the situation as it arose remains a point of view we share with others; however I do credit the prime minister for saying and stressing that really concerned citizens can vote or run for political office.

Justin Trudeau declared that his Liberal party received from Canadians a “clear mandate” to govern … but did they really? In this study Saskatchewan and Alberta received only a slightly positive response in favour of the Conservatives; in ALL the other provinces the largest response from eligible voters was from those who did not vote.

Gallant received 49.9 per cent but only of those votes that were cast so using a bit of mathematics the winner received the support of only 31.76 per cent of eligible voters about 37 per cent of whom did not vote.

In the meantime l quote a few friends from three different areas of Ontario – one says : “For the first time in my life I have no one to vote for” and “We really need a truly progressive AND conservative party” and “I have not voted for ten years I`m disgusted at how corrupt some of them are”.
