The measure would change residency requirements for commercial licensure from 75% of owners living in Oklahoma to 100%.

While edibles are already sold in childproof packaging, SB 1219 would require that packing to be clear, making the shape of the edibles apparent.

A wholesaler would not serve as a grower or dispensary operator, but would focus on facilitating business-to-business sales within the industry.

“There are people out there operating and calling themselves brokers, but there has been no oversight of this,” Rivera said.

Because marijuana has still not been legalized on the federal level, the IRS does not allow legitimate cannabis businesses to claim routine tax deductions afforded other businesses.
