Green Valley School Congratulates Grads and Thanks the Community

GVS Principal Angela Burtnack-Schinkel says, “We are actually quite excited because we get to host grad in our hometown and at our school, which is something that hasn’t been done in a long time.

They haven’t been able to celebrate grad like they would have liked.” She continues, “there’s something to be said about the grade 12-year rite of passage.

She commends the parents of grads that have gone over and above and organized a drive through farewell barbecue, coffeehouses, “of course, everything follows all the public health orders.” The surprises continued with an ice cream truck and donut truck drive-by and all the swag.

The graduation ceremony has been organized, like many others in the HSD, with prerecorded speeches shown on large screens set up on the school parking lot.

To the town of Grunthal, the businesses, residents and the parent committee she says “Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!” Because of restrictions, they’ve not been able to do the fundraising needed to raise money for Graduation expenses, so the donations have been very much appreciated.

And to the graduating class of 2021 she says, “We were just so impressed with how resilient, how focused and how determined you have been through all of this.

Rempel says, he is very honoured to be chosen as valedictorian.

After graduation Rempel says he is going to Providence University, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in psychology.

To his fellow grads and to all GVS students he says, “Something I’ve learnt that is very important in school, is to have good relationships with your teachers.
