Paul faced a move towards a non-confidence vote earlier this week when several members of the party’s federal council, its board of directors, sought to have her removed.
She said the Liberals were trying to undermine her leadership, because it was a threat to their push for a majority.
“When someone crosses the floor, it is always going to create at least short-term damage to a party and to its leadership, that is part of the point,” she said.
Kurl said voters did not tend to like floor crossings, but were split on whether they should be allowed.
