The rigs will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the climate-controlled conditions of the City Hall building, with each machine expected to consume a similar amount of electricity as a household vacuum cleaner.
Mayor Parker, who took office last year as the city’s first millennial mayor, says she does not expect the mining program to generate a profit.
Parker explained that the project required her team to “jump through hoops” in order to get the mining operation up and running.
