“ As evidenced by the formulation-level data on prices and market shares, market leadership position is often enjoyed by brands that command the highest or relatively higher prices,”, the competition regulator observed.
“A mechanism may be devised under the aegis of the CDSCO to create awareness on quality issues, build capacity, and harmonise training and practices across the country with a view to ensure uniform and consistent application of quality standards,“ the CCI recommended.
The commission also took note of the rising market share of online pharmacies and concerns around the concentration of patient data raised by brick and mortar pharmacies.
“The online pharmacies should adopt self-regulatory measures in the areas of collection, use, sharing of data and privacy.
