Yet, as you are reading this, people are sitting in jails across the state for the possession of a substance that many others can purchase without any repercussions.
As the only statewide elected official to call for full cannabis legalization, I am acutely aware of the obstacles before us.
Furthermore, when we consider our state’s disparities in enforcement, it’s clear that Black and brown Floridians are targeted more harshly under cannabis laws.
The path towards cannabis equity will not be easy, but what is right rarely is.
