Phillip Morgan – who also goes by the name Paul Jones – was caught after police saw his car speeding along a residential street, and decided to follow it.
Sian Cutter, prosecuting, told Swansea Crown Court that at around 5pm on November 12, 2020, police officers on patrol in the Townhill area of Swansea saw a car being driven “at speed”, and decided to follow it.
Officers approached the car and found Morgan in the driver’s seat with his partner in the passenger’s seat, and a child in the rear.
The court heard a search of Morgan’s home address uncovered nothing but at the property he shared with his partner police found more than a kilo of cannabis.
Phillip Ross Morgan, of Prescelli Road, Penlan, Swansea, had previously pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis with intent to supply when he appeared in the dock for sentencing.
Hywel Davies, for Morgan, said it was clear from a pre-sentence report into the defendant that there had almost been a sense of relief for his client when he was arrested as it had brought to an end his “ever spiralling drug use and drug debts”.
He told Rees that it was clear from his record he had spent a lifetime dabbling with drugs before “spreading that misery around the city” by turning to dealing.
