County adopts ‘green fleet’ energy plan for reducing emissions

Council had a similar plan in place from 2015 onwards that was successful in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by about 9.3 per cent from 2014.

In 2019, about 19 per cent of the county’s fleet used alternative fuels.

Going forward, the county is hoping to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions again by 19 per cent over 2015 levels, into 2025.

The report also outlines the cost of the plan by year, ranging anywhere from $116,000 to $269,000 a year between 2022 and 2025.

Birtch, the Woodstock mayor, asked for a report to be generated outlining “day by day, week by week” the use of fleet vehicles that go to personal homes.
