Cannabis cultivator must re-apply for product manufacturing permit

Company principal Domenick DeMartino blamed a former attorney unfamiliar with cannabis control regulations and permitting procedures for the oversight in the original application.

Somehow, the fact that two people would someday be in that room making cannabis edibles and other products from the crops grown there was never explicitly spelled out in the original permit request, he said.

“We didn’t apply for it properly” the first time around, so now have to file a new application for a permit to cover the missing manufacturing authority, the owner explained.

Town Counsel Amy Kwesell advised that the zoning bylaws do not allow modifications of special permits except in cases of procedural errors.

Chair John Oliveiri was among those who felt the manufacturing operation would be enough of a change in operations that the board would need to conduct an in-depth review of the new application.
