The action film, starring Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez, raked in $30 million on Friday alone from 4,179 theaters.
Along with Diesel and Rodriguez, “F9” also stars Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster and Sung Kang.
Though “F9” kicked off with a speedy start, “A Quiet Place Part II” is currently the highest-earning film of the pandemic era in the U.S.
“The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard” came in third place on box office charts and is estimated to earn another $4.56 million this weekend, which would bring its total to $25.5 million.
