A seller’s market in Macomb County

Well-maintained houses are selling for more than people might be willing to pay because they appreciate the maintenance instead of the updating.

Rising prices and the pandemic are, in part, contributing to a relative lack of homes for sale.

Just before the coronavirus pandemic Davis was working with a couple who were looking to buy their first home.

Davis, being a creative realtor, came up with a coming soon campaign to let buyers know about Hustek’s home.

Kevin said they loved the home’s old character and that it was located in an area of other historic homes.

They now have two younger children and while they’ve been talking about moving into a bigger home never had the nudge to do it – until this year.

However, after thinking things through they decided that they were not comfortable paying that price for a home in that particular neighborhood.

• Be familiar with all the expenses, including closing costs, homeowners association fees, condo association fees, insurance.

• Resist the pressure to waive the inspection entirely in this market — this is the wrong time to not know what you are buying especially if you are pushing the limits of your budget to buy the home.

Be sure you are happy with the area so you don’t end up buying a house only to realize later it isn’t close to the amenities you want.
