Hot housing market puts renters off having more kids – The University of Sydney

For the first time in Australia, people’s plans to have children and the outcomes of this have been measured against property prices.

Nationally, property prices have risen by more than 20 percent over the past two years.

Associate Professor Whelan said he and his colleagues have highlighted an important and perhaps unsurprising trend.

The researchers crunched the numbers using responses from partnered females aged 25 to 45 to the annual, national Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia as well as one that asked participants to report their housing prices.
