The New York Yankees have done nothing … and we mean NOTHING … with just hours to go before the MLB lockout.
According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, Freddie Freeman is drawing interest from the Bombers as he’s still a free agent.
Freeman is the undisputed best first baseman in the sport and the Yankees are in desperate need of a lefty bat that boasts power and contact in addition to Gold Glove caliber defense at the position.
That shouldn’t stop the Yankees, though, especially if they’re not going to spend big on a shortstop.
Then again … they won’t do it.
Dodgers, who lost Seager and could move Muncy to 2B, may have best hope for SoCal product, NYY, TOR reached out.
And when the Yankees opted not to go after Max Scherzer, who was admittedly insanely expensive and didn’t exactly fill an immediate need for them, they made it clear throwing money at their many problems would not be the answer before the 2022 campaign.
And if this narrative ends up doing a 180, feel free to “cold take” us.
