On Aug. 20, Milwaukee Irish Fest will be the first lakefront ethnic festival to return since COVID-19

Irish Fest is the first of Milwaukee’s big lakefront ethnic festival to return following the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It will feature some of Celtic music’s most renowned fiddlers performing together, including Eileen Ivers, Alasdair Fraser, Winifred Horan, Brian Conway, Matt Mancuso and Natalie Haas.

If festivalgoers can’t make it down to the grounds to see some of these acts, they can also enjoy the event virtually on the Milwaukee Irish Fest website.

As far as COVID-19 goes, Mitchell said they will not require masks but that they encourage attendees to follow the current CDC guidelines, which recommend wearing a mask indoors in public if you are in an area of substantial or high transmission.

To accommodate more social distancing, “we’ve designed things to be more open this year,” Mitchell said.
