Sounders, Reign returning to full capacity in July

With Washington set to fully reopen at the end of this month, the Seattle Sounders have decided it’s time to open Lumen Field to everyone, with no restrictions.

Having proceeded with a phased approach to fans attending games thus far — and with no apparent hiccups — starting July 7, fans who attend matches can do so in the same way they did before Covid-19 became a household name.

“As our state prepares to fully reopen at the end of the month, we’re excited to share that Sounders FC and Lumen Field are following this guidance and likewise moving to fully open our home matches starting in July,” said Sounders FC Owner & President of Business Operations Peter Tomozawa in a release.

The announcement means that the Sounders are adjusting their timeline somewhat, having originally planned to reopen Lumen Field to fans without restriction starting with the July 25 match against Sporting Kansas City.

The Sounders also told season-ticket holders that single-game tickets would soon be going on sale and that there would be no 18th game in the season-ticket package, which effectively makes the OL Reign part of the double-header free.

For fans attending the match on Saturday with seats in the lower bowl, the previously announced guidelines are still in place.

Beginning with the club’s July 11 match against Kansas City, no proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test will be required for fans attending matches at Cheney Stadium.

The club’s double-header with the Sounders at Lumen Field will go on sale at 2 PM PT on June 30, with Reign season ticket holders getting early access on June 28.
