Harvill was making his first practice jump when his Suzuki motorcycle landed short and he was thrown from the bike, KIMA reported.
Harvill, who began riding dirt bikes when he was 4 years old, already owned a world record in the dirt to dirt motorcycle ramp jump, according to Guinness.
Harvill had previously suffered injuries while riding, most recently in 2017 when he overestimated the length of a jump and landed hard, causing his tire to explode, the Columbia Basin Herald reported.
I just launched right off, and I was like, ‘Wow, just awesome,’” Harvill told the newspaper last month.
