Lisa Banes, ‘Gone Girl’ Actor, Dies at 65 After Hit-and-Run Scooter Accident

Lisa Banes, an actor who appeared in “Gone Girl,” “A Cure for Wellness” and more, died on Monday after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run accident 10 days earlier in New York.

On June 4, Banes was hit by a person driving a scooter in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, an NYPD spokesperson confirmed to Variety.

The driver fled the location, continuing northbound, an NYPD spokesperson said.

“We are heartsick over Lisa’s tragic and senseless passing,” said her manager David Williams in a statement.

“Lisa’s brother, Evan Sinclair, and sister-in-law, Hallie Atkinson, and I were by her side for the last 10 days, as well as some dear and loving friends,” Banes’ wife Kathryn Kranhold said in a statement.

Since the 1980s, Banes performed in various films, TV shows and stage plays.

Banes was also featured in Gore Verbinski’s “A Cure for Wellness” in 2016, “Legally Blondes,” “Brothel,” “Freedom Writers,” “Combustion” and “Dragonfly,” among others.
