Rinne of Predators wins King Clancy Trophy

He and former Nashville captain Shea Weber, now of the Montreal Canadiens, spearheaded the 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund, which raises money and awareness for cancer research.

The goalie has been committed to Hockey Fights Cancer, a joint initiative of the NHL and NHL Players’ Association.

Rinne is active in the Best Buddies program in Tennessee, interacting with cancer patients, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, helping to grant wishes to those with terminal illnesses.

“I mean, 2020 has been a rough year for everyone and for us, when we went on the pause, not playing hockey, I was able to travel back home.

A first-time finalist for the award, Rinne is the first Predators player to win it.

“He was always encouraging guys to get involved and he was very close with Best Buddies here in Nashville,” Rinne said.
