Survey numbers released by Lifeway Research indicate 77 per cent of the 1,007 Protestant pastors polled last fall by phone or online disagree that cannabis should be legalized for any purpose.
That compares to six per cent who strongly agree and 12 per cent who somewhat agree that it should be.
There was, of course, different support based on specific groups of pastors.
In all, 81 per cent of male respondents are likely to agree with the statement that getting high on weed is morally wrong compared to 50 per cent of female respondents.
“There are about as many opinions on marijuana as there are ways to consume it,” says Scott McConnell, executive director of Lifeway Research, according to Word & Way.
