Disneyland polishes Fantasyland’s crown jewel with carousel makeover

The Fantasyland centerpiece closed in January 2020, a few months before the park was shuttered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

King Arthur Carrousel dominates the central courtyard behind Sleeping Beauty Castle — rotating and galloping like the beating heart of the land.

Artisans retouched the paint on all the horses, reset the bridle jewels and applied new gold leaf.

Overhead support beams above the horses pop with regal color in vibrant purples, baby blues and burnt oranges.

The carousel was moved farther away from Sleeping Beauty Castle in 1983 as part of the New Fantasyland project.

Linguists will note that Disney spells King Arthur Carrousel with two Rs as opposed to the more traditional carousel with one R.
