Now, I’ll be the first to admit, we can’t really glean a whole lot from what took place on the field this past week.
The next day, tight ends coach Justin Outten was jokingly fanning Love because he couldn’t miss, and was pushing the ball downfield after relying heavily on check-downs in previous practices.
This should all be expected.
After these three days, it’s quite clear that the Green Bay Packers coaching staff thinks very highly of rookie offensive linemen Royce Newman.
There is at least one spot up for grabs along the offensive line and possibly two depending on when David Bakhtiari is back, so keep your eyes on Newman moving forward, it’s obvious that the coaches like what they are seeing.
That leaves one spot up for grabs — and like I said, possibly two depending when Bak is back — for several players.
A surprise on this list is Ben Braden, who offensive line coach Adam Stenavich said should be competing for a starting spot this summer.
No, this has nothing to do with Aaron Rodgers, but rather the fact that Adams is in the final year of his deal.
I signed up to go to work and play,” Adams said Tuesday via Packers Wire.
It’s certainly notable that Rodgers was not present at mandatory mini-camp, but also not surprising.
The real litmus test for how the Rodgers-Packers relationship is holding up will be training camp.
If, at that point, the saga does drag out into August, then things may be irreconcilable.
Winfree was a sixth-round pick by Denver in 2019 out of Colorado, where he tallied 649 receiving yards at 13.6 yards per catch and four touchdowns in 15 games.
When it comes to the receiver position, we know Adams, Allen Lazard, Marquez Valdez-Scantling, and Amari Rodgers are on the roster but at least one and likely two spots are up for grabs.
Going back even further before the 2020 draft, Gutey said that drafting a quarterback is always on the table.
AJ Dillon saw minimal playing time as a rookie and was hardly utilized in the passing game.
Well at practice on Wednesday when Love was dealing, one of his big completions was to Dillon on a wheel route for 30 yards.
I will say that I’ve been of the mindset that Bakhtiari is going to miss at least some time this season as he still recovers from an ACL injury.
This is my first time going through this, so I’m just going to attack every day, try to hit every benchmark I can.
We didn’t really hear much about the nickel cornerback position and the battle that is taking place during these practices, but it’s still intriguing nonetheless.
In a recent CheeseheadTV article, I took a look at the ‘star’ cornerback position, how Joe Barry views it, and who might be competing for playing time there.
“Well, he sure looks the part, there’s no doubt about that,” LaFleur said after Tuesday’s practice via Packers Wire.
Funchess has the ability to line up both out wide and in the slot and with that size he could be a favorite target on third downs and in the red zone.
After my family, watching the Packers, sharing my opinions on the team through my writing and interacting with other fans is my greatest passion.
Criticism of Gute for doing his job, and doing it well, is undeserved.
Thinking about a corps with DA, AL, MVS, ESB or DF, and AmRo, portends a lot of YAC.
If he can work through mechanical issues, much like Rodgers had to with that janky ball position he came into the league with, it’s going to be fun to see him run the gauntlet of camp and preseason.
Yeah, Savage, I believe we are fortunate to have Gutekunst as our GM.
It’s a delicate dance keeping a top team competitive, yet requires sure footedness, proper planning to be right with your moves, and confidence in execution.
What did Gutey do? Has drafted 6 OL since and added several promising OT’s in FA such as Yosh Nijman, and Coy Cronk.
I hate to rehash that game again, but Niners rushed for 285 yds and Rodgers threw for 326 yds.
How much longer are we going to console ourselves with NFCCG appearances, 28-8, and all of these other things that fall short of the ultimate goal? That logic is getting tiresome.
Our defense needs to be good enough to be able to gain the upper hand throughout the playoffs; no falling behind and having to play catch-up.
So I’m really hoping that Barry finds the mix, the right schemes, uses his talent to the best of their abilities–that is the key.
If Gute was doing his job, we wouldn’t have an Aaron Rodgers Saga, and if we didn’t have an Aaron Rodgers, there wouldn’t be any NFC Championship games.
After watching this unfold, and when they can’t restore the broken relationship with Rodgers and he’s gone, enjoy the crap product they try to field! This already feels like the early 70’s creeping back to show it’s ugly head.
So what is the Murphy Mantra? Gee, Aaron Rodgers has divided the fan base! Got news for the Gutey/Murphy fiasco in the front office, you can’t villainize Aaron Rodgers for your inability to build a championship defense and equip him with more than 1 viable receiver.
Watch and learn people, some really bad football ahead if the MVP isn’t on this team in 2021, and you’ll have nobody to blame expect the top 2 monkeys running the organization.
C’mon man! NFCCG Loser vs crunch time stud? AR isnt even TB, he is more like a Dan Marino/Dan Fouts/Ken Anderson, etc…
He set the record by being different, including the turnover aversion and throwing away the ball strategically, and the QBR system bar of rating QB play was set.
If he can’t throw the ball right without the equipment on.
Speaking of RELAX, you’re forgetting how bad Rodgers’ mechanics were when he came into the league.
Should the latter happen and Love stumbles, there’ll be a lot of, “See?”, without allowance that three years to develop usually leads to better results than none years to develop.
Isn’t this what the leader of a team embraces as part of their legacy? Too bad he missed it – there aren’t many of these left.
Do they move Patrick to OC, and put Newmann, Runyan or someone else at RG? IF Bakhtiari isn’t ready to start the season, then there will be a lot more questions to who is starting.
I would have preferred Richardson, but Campbell is a very productive tackler.
Self-proclaimed as the best feet in NFL, we’ll maybe Devante would have a say in that, but impressive that he feels so confident about his abilities.
Knowing fan/reporter interactions on this from the DEN side, they are wanting to swap more players as opposed to more picks.
I’m not saying that it wouldn’t be nice to have a legit 1B at WR, but any of Funchess, MVS or Lazard has a legitimate chance to turn into that guy this year.
Braden and Newman are bigger guys and would appear to bring more of the “road grader” talent to the OL mix.
The dispute is he wanted a contract that let him play longer for the packers and not let management dishonor his contract in a year.
Pack took a slight gamble and gave him an enormous amount early in the contract even though he was older and came off a season where it can be debated he had a bit of a down year.
I’m not forfeiting any of my money that I’ve earned and signed for already.
He also took the time blew out the theory that he coordinated receiver absences at OTAs effectively on his own initiative.
He stated he supports Rodgers his teammate, but also that the show must go on and he has no grips with the FO.
As to any Packer player’s words about Love, I ask you, when did any player talk in any manner that would seem to be undermining or honestly truthful? The one thing they all learn first and foremost is to not denigrate another player while on the same team.
One day he says he’ll defend Rodgers while screaming from the mountaintop, and the next he’s saying I’ll live up to my contract, thus throwing shade on his former, which says he defends Rodgers not living up to his.
just your slant on things, no more right than wrong.
His answer to that question would be a simple yes, I will.
He’s going to get paid, either by GB or DEN.
Judging by zero comments regarding the Packers best WR, Davante Adams, yesterday, I’ll surmise he again did not participate in any of the team activities.
I’m thinking DEN wants both AR and Adams. I also think Gutekunst does not want to part with Adams, and has offered ESB, Lazard and MVS as alternatives in a potential deal for more than just AR alone.
In one sequence, he jumped up to the basket and his head reached the hoop, so if he is 6’4 that means he achieved a 42″ leap.
I would say based on what James Jones has stated about Rodgers over the past 8 weeks, he will be back.
Jones believes Rodgers will actually show up for training camp.
Multiple reports this offseason have said that Rodgers will only play for the Packers if the team fires general manager Brian Gutekunst, but apparently Rodgers doesn’t want him fired.
According to Jones, Rodgers is upset at the fact that the Packers keep dumping players who could still help the team.
The biggest upside for Packers fans is that Jones thinks the relationship is salvageable.
The upside here is if Rogers gets dinged during the season Jordan love will have had plenty of time to assimilate the Packers offense and come in in a relief role in win a few games until Rogers gets back.
