Several media outlets, including the Sun-Sentinel, WPLG and WSVN, said one person had died, citing Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis, who attended the event.

“We were at the start of the parade, right in front of Fort Lauderdale High School,” Christina Currie, who was at the parade with her husband and their two elementary school-aged children, told the Sun-Sentinel.
